Rangers need a new centre-back this summer with Joe Worrall leaving the club after his loan deal from Nottingham Forest came to an end at the end of the season.
We need some cover, at least, and ideally a player to come in and make a real claim to be a first-team starter for next season.
Phil Jagielka, available on a free after leaving Everton, might have been ideal, but it seems as though it is highly unlikely that he is going to sign for us – as per a report from Football Scotland.
Indeed, they address the fact that he has been pictured in Scotland and explain that it was purely to meet up with friends, rather than on a football-related trip.
Jagielka doesn’t seem to be on the way, then, and the search for a centre-half for Rangers will have to rumble on with pre-season now well underway.
Who Steven Gerrard gets, remains to be seen.
