Life in Scotland is far from normal at the moment and to highlight this even more, Charlie Nicholas has come out in support of Rangers’ statement claiming that the full season should be completed before medals are handed out.

Writing in his Daily Express column (via The Scottish Sun), Nicholas issues a strongly worded response to fellow pundit and former Celtic forward John Hartson, after his bizarre claim that Rangers should just throw the towel in and “concede” the title:

“John Hartson said that if Rangers concede the title to Celtic they would come away with a lot of credit.

“But from who? Hartson? There is no chance of Rangers getting any credit from anywhere.

“Their own fans would be up in arms for a start.

“Hopefully we will get back playing and everything will be decided on the pitch as it should be.”

In a rare show of common sense, Nicholas is absolutely correct – other than Celtic minded individuals – there is no clamour to end the season and dish out titles that haven’t mathematically been won.

Who is Rangers top league goalscorer?

With SFA Chief Executive, Ian Maxwell, announcing that the preference is to see the 2019/20 season completed, there now appears to be little chance of Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell getting what they want.

Celtic may be well on course to win the Scottish Premiership title but they will have to do it the good old fashioned way, by completing the full season. It’s just as well Hartson doesn’t run Scottish football, if you thought it was a shambles now…
