It was a bitterly cold night at Ibrox but 42,135 fans braved the cold December night to witness Rangers wrack up another three points in the third division over visitors Annan Athletic.

David Templeton opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a wonderful shot from 20 yards out. That was the only goal of the first half though and Rangers went into the interval with a 1-0 lead. The game sprung into action in the 59th minute after Lee Wallace was judge to have pushed Steel.

The referee awarded Annan a penalty and sent Wallace off for his troubles. Captain Lee McCulloch was also booked for protesting. Wallace did have a successful appeal against the red card subsequently. Neil Alexander crucially saved the spot kick to keep Rangers ahead.

The penalty save was a turning point and Rangers went on to finish the game off. Five minutes after the penalty save Andy Little scored a cracking goal, he used his pace to beat the Annan defence before firing into the net. Templeton rounded off the scoring with his second of the game in the 70th minute with another 20 yard shot.
