Rangers will be looking to add to their side this summer and bring in some real quality in order to try and close the gap to Celtic.

It is clear that we are gradually reeling them in now and I would imagine next season we are going to be seriously in with a chance of picking up a trophy.

That challenge starts this summer, though, with signing players and the bookmakers’ suggestion that Daniel Sturridge is a potential arrival would certainly excite.

According to the Scotsman, though, such an arrival is highly unlikely.

Whilst the England international, if fit, would be our best player it is also more than possible he is going to command fees that we simply cannot afford.

He’s a free agent but the signing on fee and the wages he will likely want are going to be too much for us – no matter how ambitious we are.

A shame, but something we should perhaps have already accepted.

  • This year’s Solanke nonsense. And look how that turned out for AFC Bournemouth. 24 hour news cycle fodder.
