Charlie Lindsay – remember the name.

This Ibrox youngster has got serious potential, but at present he is backing it up and shining on the pitch.

Still just 17 years old, he is already making an impression and the cause for optimism was further underlined earlier this week with a piece of outrageous technique and vision to assist a goal from deep in his own half – spraying a through ball into the path of teammate Tony Weston who duly obliged with the finish.

That goal came against Hamilton Accies in a 5-2 win for the visitors at U18 level.

Jordan Campbell, Rangers correspondent at The Athetic said the following – but judge the quality for yourself from the clip below.

Capped by Northern Ireland at youth level, the lad has the perfect role model to look up to, in the form of Steven Davis.

There is also the manager of course, Steven Gerrard.

In a recent interview with Belfast based journalist Steven Beacom, Lindsay raved about the current buzz at Ibrox and how much he is enjoying his football in the presence of two idols, named above:

“There is a brilliant atmosphere at the club. The team deserved to win the title and the place is buzzing.”

“As a Rangers fan it was brilliant to see the side win it and to be at the club right now feels special,” he stated.

Inspirational

“Steven Davis has been outstanding this season. He is a great inspiration to all the young players, especially for me being a midfielder and attacking player.”

“Steven has shown to young players from Northern Ireland what is possible and what he is doing for Rangers and Northern Ireland is amazing.”

“It shows what can be achieved with hard work, commitment and dedication. I have spoken to him a few times and he is a down to earth guy.”

“The manager Steven Gerrard is another down to earth person and very humble. He has come to watch us at times and if you see him he would speak to you.”

“He would never walk by you. Both of them are inspirational figures at the club.”

“My dream is to play for Rangers and the senior Northern Ireland team in the future, I was so pleased to be called up to the Under-19 squad for the first time last month.”

“I really enjoyed the camp under Gerard Lyttle and his staff, they all have great insight into the game and I’m really excited about the future and getting a chance to play at that level.”

Level headed, articulate, self-aware and a promising talented footballer – Charlie Lindsay is giving himself the best possible chance of a breakthrough at Ibrox if he continues his development on and off the pitch.
