St Johnstone have put a £1m price tag on Rangers goalkeeping target Zander Clark ahead of the summer transfer window, according to website Football Insider.

It was reported last week that the Gers were keen on bringing the Perth number one to Ibrox as back-up to Allan McGregor, but the latest news means he could prove to be too expensive.

The latest report states Ibrox sources have indicated St Johnstone want a seven-figure fee for the player, apparently not especially keen on one of their top talents leaving the club anytime soon.

Clark has been at McDiarmid Park for five years and has been a regular in Tommy Wright’s team for three seasons now.

His current contract runs until the end of next season meaning this summer is likely the last one available for the club to secure a significant fee for the player.

Could that open up the prospect of Rangers driving down his price in the upcoming transfer window?

That remains to be seen, but I can’t see the club shelling out much money for a player who won’t get much game time behind McGregor.
