Rangers remain in the hunt for Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman with the Dutch youth cap yet to hear whether or not the bid from an unknown side has been accepted.

With Verona pulling out of the running, it would appear that the Gers have a clear run at signing the 22-year old and – speaking to  This is Futbol – former Rangers defender, Michael Ball, has backed Ross Wilson to get the deal over the line:

“Heerenveen were probably hoping for a bigger European club to come in and pay that £10million valuation. But, with Covid, there are not many teams who can afford that for a prospect.

“I think the Rangers move is perfect for the player. If they can do that with a sell-on fee, I think they can get the move over the line.”

Veerman is very much the last piece of the jigsaw in the Rangers squad and appears to be the only player that we are actively trying to recruit, this could change of course if there are any departures but, for now, there are no obvious weaknesses in the squad.

Will Rangers qualify for the group stages of the Champions League?

Yes

No

No

Heerenveen obviously have their valuation, same as we do with Alfredo Morelos, but it would appear that several clubs have already decided that he is a bit pricey, hopefully our sporting director can work some more magic and get the sort of deal agreed that suits all parties without us having to pay over the odds.
