Rangers return to Ibrox this afternoon and, perhaps, the best thing for the squad is to be facing another difficult challenge, the next two fixtures could well decide the destiny of the Scottish Premiership title.

Hearts are up next and there should be no repeat of the passive start that we saw against Celtic, especially with the visitors unlikely to have key players like Michael Smith and Craig Halkett but John Souttar could well be in the line up.

Obviously Souttar’s selection would be a controversial one given where he will be playing next season but because of the injuries elsewhere, Robbie Neilson might have to throw him in – it doesn’t look good if the player isn’t 100%, especially when you consider his history.

For Rangers, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has some decisions to make, experienced internationals like Glen Kamara and Borna Barisic let their manager – and the fans – down in the Old Firm and their replacements were a lot more proactive.

With this in mind, this is who I think GvB will go with to get us back on track:

If Ryan Jack is fit enough he has to play, it’s as simple as that, if he is pain free and his issue has just been match fitness then he showed on Wednesday that he isn’t far away, he was clearly the best player on the park. Alongside him I’d love to see Aaron Ramsey but it might be too early for a start, Scott Arfield one of only a few players who didn’t totally disgrace themselves against Celtic and he will probably keep his place.

It would be a massive shock if Calvin Bassey doesn’t move to left-back and Leon Balogun returns to the middle of defence purely because of how poor Barisic was, with the front three also raising a few questions.

Alfredo Morelos is our best striker and has been flying under Gio, Ryan Kent has also looked a lot better, the question is whether or not he will stick with Amad Diallo or give Fashion Sakala a much deserved star – I know what I’d prefer.

A good, aggressive and positive performance would be nice, as after the last couple of games though, three points is all that really matters.
