So, Bayern Munich want to sign Umar Sadiq and it isn’t April the 1st any more.

As reported by Vital Rangers, there are claims that the European heavyweights are looking at the former Rangers loanee, however, Almeria are refusing to budge from the striker’s equally ridiculous €60million release clause:

“The Bavarian giants are interested in the Almería striker, with a release clause of 60 million euros and four more years of contract to run.”

“Almería are not listening to offers at the moment.”

Now, we didn’t see much of Sadiq at Rangers – 116 minutes to be precise – and there is a reason for this, Steven Gerrard was more than vocal about what he expected from his players and the Nigerian international just wasn’t up to the task or putting in the performances in training to suggest that he could have made a valuable contribution.

But was he the one that got away?

Since leaving Rangers prematurely in 2019 he has 43 goals and 25 assists for Perugia, Partizan Belgrade and Almeria, not exactly the leading lights of European football but, if we hadn’t seen him first hand and we were linked with him, we’d certainly be excited about his potential arrival. With 23 goals and seven assists in Spain’s second tier, it’s easy to see why he is attracting attention.

Sadiq criticised Gerrard after he left but we all known that the gaffer doesn’t suffer fools gladly and, after deciding to dive against Aberdeen in the league cup semi final rather than tap the ball into an empty net to level the scores, his Rangers career was always going to be a short lived one.

In the cold light of day and against popular opinion, considering he had played just a handful of minutes, he actually played quite well against Aberdeen that day and gave their defence a few problems other than not being able to time his runs early doors, his link up play was fine and he brought others into the game despite not really getting any decent service – €60m and Bayern Munch though, are you sure it isn’t still April the 1st?
