Rangers trio David Weir, Steven Davis and Kris Boyd have been shortlisted for Scotland’s PFA player of the year award. On loan Ranger Andy Webster is also nominated.

Rangers are runaway leaders in the Clydesdale Bank SPL and it’s no surprise that they dominate the nominations for the player of the year. Danny Wilson has also been nominated in the young player of the year category.

David Weir has been solid at the back for Rangers all season at the grand old age of 39, while Steve Davis has been a class act in midfield. Kris Boyd has been in fantastic scoring form although has hit a bit of a drought in the last few games.

The fourth and final player nominated is Andy Webster, also on Rangers’ books but currently on loan to Dundee United. Webster has had a great season for United and has shown that he can perhaps do a job for Rangers next season.

Webster could partner young player of the year nominee Danny Wilson in the Rangers defence next season, should David Weir choose not to continue into next season and if Bougherra is sold on.

The full nominations for player of the year and young player of the year as follows:

Scotland PFA Player Of The Year

David Weir
Steven Davis
Kris Boyd
Andy Webster

(all Rangers, Webster on loan to Dundee Utd)

Scotland PFA Young Player of The Year

Danny Wilson (Rangers)
David Goodwillie (Dundee Utd)
Anthony Stokes (Hibernian)
Leigh Griffiths (Dundee)

Winners will be announced on 2 May 2010.
