There is no doubt that Rangers will be looking to recruit at least one striker in the summer, if Ross Wilson is doing his job right then we should be seeing two, even if Alfredo Morelos puts pen to paper on what would be a surprise turn of events.

In the January transfer window, Michael Beale hinted that he had his eye on someone already and that they would give our attack a different dimension, other than looking at previous players who have been linked, there has only been two new names emerge.

Petar Ratkov is only 19-years old and wouldn’t be expected to come in straight away and lead the line but Nikola Krstovic would, a recent contract extension does little to affect whether or not his club will have to fend bids for him seeing as he already only had a couple of years left on his old deal.

The re-emergence of Josh Maja’s name, who was a one-time option to replace Morelos, is another interesting link and Football Insider has claimed that he is at the top of the list of a few strikers that Rangers are said to be targetting:

“Rangers have set their sights on signing multiple strikers in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

“The Gers are looking to bolster their front line ahead of next season that could see multiple forward additions joining Ibrox in the summer.

“Last month, Football Insider revealed that the Gers have a genuine interest in Bordeaux striker Josh Maja, who is out of contract at the end of the season. The 24-year-old remains on the Glasgow club’s radar and is a top target as they prepare to bring in multiple new signings in the summer.”

Maja, with 46 career goals, on a free, makes a lot of sense. He did well in England before he went to France, has rediscovered form and fitness and has Premier League and Ligue 1 experience now too. I wouldn’t have him as our lead striker but, alongside Antonio Colak and one other he would certainly provide decent depth.

The Nigeria international would also be a solid long-term option to cover Kemar Roofe’s departure and pick up the minutes that he should be playing, even with a hip operation that could get to the route of his problems, there are no guarantees.
