The transfer window in Scotland was due to close at midnight on the 1st of September by which point Rangers will know exactly what competition they are playing in in Europe, we may yet see a frantic last week between our second leg against PSV Eindhoven and the final hours of the window.

One small problem has been rectified in a rare moment of foresight by the SFA, half of the Premier Sports Cup ties are to be played on the 31st of August with game preparation likely to have a significant impact on any potential last minute deals, the governing body deciding to give Scottish clubs an extra day to conduct any business, as reported by The Scotsman:

“A 24-hour extension to the summer transfer window has been granted taking the time-period for negotiations into next month.

“Premier Sports Cup matches on August 31 could prove an unnecessary stumbling block for eight clubs in action on the final day and Hampden officials have given an extra day’s grace for deals to be completed.”

For once, they’ve made a decision that makes a lot of sense and it could well benefit Rangers with our tie against Queen of the South being played a day earlier on the 30th of August – Ross Wilson and his team will now have two clear days to get deals over the line if we are looking to make any additions.

It looks like we now have a settled squad and we will be going with what we have though, a positive result against PSV and any departures could quickly change all that though – watch this space.
