Rangers flop lined up for incredible £20m move

|

The transfer market can be absolute madness at times, the old adage about a player only being worth what a club is willing to pay is as true now as it’s ever been though, even if some of the fees involved are hard to understand.

Take Alfredo Morelos and Umar Sadiq for example.

Our Colombian international would have left the club last summer or the summer before if an offer of £20million or over had been made, as it was, the closest we got was £16.25million from Lille who refused to go any higher, such is their right.

For Sadiq, you’d struggle to find a Rangers fan who would be willing to pay £2m never mind £20m and yet, it is the latter that is being discussed as a potential fee with Villareal and Borussia Dortmund no less said to be entertaining bids.

There’s no escaping that his goal scoring record since aborting his loan spell at Rangers has been decent, a questionable work rate and willingness to take advice the main causes for him being sent back to Roma, however, his lack of ability was also a considerable factor and yet in recent seasons we have seen all sorts of teams linked with him including Manchester United.

Sadiq could yet go for more money than Morelos, an incredible concept to get your head around if you have seen both of them play and compare their records, especially in Europe but, if someone is willing to pay £20m for a player of his calibre, you would be stupid to turn it down.
