Gio hints at early Gers deals and no mass exodus

There is a common consensus that there will be a mass exodus of sorts at Rangers, some players leaving due to be out of contract or because of their age with others being sold because they have a limited time left on their current deal and we don’t want to lose significant transfer fee income.

There is another side to this though and that is one that Giovanni van Bronckhorst shares, the squad we currently have were all assembled at roughly the same time given the rebuild that Steven Gerrard had on his hands, however, this doesn’t mean that the squad will be broken up at the same time too, as explained by the manager, via Football Scotland:

“You don’t come to the end of a cycle to be in a European final and win the Scottish Cup. We were fighting for the championship until the end. This team still has the desire and the hunger.

“Of course there will be some changes with some new personnel, some new players coming in. We have to be ready for the challenges we face next season.

“Of course you want to have your team and your squad done as early as possible because we also have to play in Europe very quickly when the season begins.

“You want to have the strongest squad possible.”

Going off what the boss has said, it looks as though we will have new players in sooner rather than later and for all that the likes of Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo will be out of contract next summer, we can’t sell them if no suitable bids come in.

James Tavernier called it the best squad he has ever been involved in and we never hear of players demanding moves or wanting away, it’s clearly a close group and hopefully that will be enough to persuade those who are into the last year of their deals to sign extensions even if they don’t intend to stay at Ibrox for their whole career.
