Right then Mr Wilson, it’s time to get the cheque book out.

The priority over the next ten days has to be a central midfielder capable of scoring goals and a right winger, you’ve guessed it, capable of scoring goals.

They seem to have been the most troublesome positions to fill over the last few years with Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo the best contributors from the middle of the park, however, we have seen only too well what happens when they are missing – as for the right wing, nobody has held it down consistently since Daniel Candeias which says it all.

Another player in Arfield’s mould would also allow Aribo to remain further up the park, he’s a class act alongside Glen Kamara but his best work is always done closer to the opposition goal.

Speaking as part of the pre-match build up to Stirling Albion, Giovanni van Bronckhorst hinted that we might not be done yet in the transfer market, as reported by The Herald:

“The window is still open for eleven days, anything can happen in that time and we are fully prepared.”

Andreas Skov Olsen is the obvious solution to the right-hand side, I really hope we don’t miss out on an international player of his age and quality when he is available for less than we paid for Ryan Kent, especially when his club appears to be wanting rid of him, the midfield position is one that is slightly harder to fill.

Players like Jean Paul Boetius and Joe Rothwell would add something different to what we have just now, both are out of contract at the end of the season and early deals might be more affordable, then there are the domestic options like Lewis Ferguson, although a fee around £3.5million seems a bit steep.

There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be spending some of the money raised from the sale of Nathan Patterson and the departure of Steven Gerrard in this window, we can’t afford to stand still but we can afford to spend.
