Rangers target “fits the bill” after Gerrard makes transfer admission

|

Alan Hutton has backed Scott Wright to be a decent option for Rangers if they can get a deal over the line for the Aberdeen forward after Steven Gerrard confirmed a possible move.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back reckons that the Scotland youth cap fits the Light Blues system and style of play, tipping him to add to the quality that we already have in attack.

“You would have thought so, everything seems in place to do that, whether it be off the back of the McCrorie thing.

“Obviously Rangers seem really interested in him and again, he’s a very good player, technically gifted and and he suits that style and the formation that they want to play.

“I go back to the three up front but it’s actually like a main striker and two numbers 10s that like to get on the ball and create, see a pass, make things happen and if he fits that bill.

“Gerrard likes options. I think, obviously, Kent has been his main go-to for a couple of seasons now so maybe he’s looking to mix things up, even more competition for those kind of wider areas and I think he can add to that.”

The thing with Wright is that he is playing in a team that just doesn’t suit how he plays, just look at how they set up against us, two strikers, both massive, and long balls fired up to them for the whole game, this makes it harder to judge just how much of a success he could be for us.

Can Wright challenge Kent?

Yes

No

No

He certainly has attributes that could provide competition to Ryan Kent, he loves to beat a man, technically very good and can create chances for others, on a free transfer there really is nothing to lose.
