Of the numerous players who are out of contract in the summer, the one most likely to be offered a new deal and to sign one is, probably, Ryan Jack due to being younger than the veterans that should be released but also as a home grown player.

The 31-year old midfielder will appreciate what he has at Rangers, is a fan of the club and knows that he is unlikely to find a manager who will be as understanding of his previous medical history as Michael Beale.

And it is that medical history that is unlikely to see him being inundated with offers from clubs of a similar standing, however, a report in Football Insider by transfer correspondent Fraser Fletcher has claimed that there is interest in the Scotland international from an unlikely source.

“A number of Bundesliga clubs have registered their interest in signing Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

“The 31-year-old’s contract at Ibrox expires at the end of the season and his uncertain future at Rangers has piqued the interest of clubs in Germany.

“It is understood that Jack is keen to remain at Ibrox and that manager Michael Beale still considers him a key member of the squad.”

Jack was particularly impressive in the Europa League last season where his positional awareness and ability to put out fires in midfield rather than having the responsibility of dictating play were more important, there is no doubt that Rangers felt his absence this season in the Champions League.

The likelihood is that Jack will be offered a one-year extension to his current contract, I can’t see Scott Arfield or Steven Davis being kept on the playing staff so his experience would be valuable in the changing rooms. Also, with 27 appearances so far this term after getting himself fit again, he looks to be over the worst of his injury issues and, if he makes it to 40 games, a new deal would be well deserved.

Having said that, with a dodgy calf, the opportunity to get away from artificial pitches and play in a decent league might be too good to turn down!
