Wilshere in “advanced talks” with Rangers as sensational transfer coup edges closer

|

What seemed like nothing more than paper talk could become a reality after all with the news that Jack Wilshere is in “advanced talks” to sign for Rangers.

The Scottish Sun has picked on a claim by well respected journalist and “transfer specialist” Nico Shira who posted that the former Arsenal and England midfielder could well be on his way to Ibrox.

The 28-year old had his contract ripped up by West Ham after the London based club sought to get his reported £100,000 a week wage off the bill, that Wilshere has been given a decent settlement should allow him to take a sizeable cut in salary at his next club.

After his release by the Hammers, the 34-cap star said of his frustration at not being able to make an impact at his boyhood club:

“I’m still only 28 and feel fit, strong and ready to play.

“I am still incredibly hungry, ambitious and desperate to play football and achieve success.

“Despite all my best efforts and intentions, it has not worked out as I expected.”

Most Rangers fans will still remember Wilshere as a fresh faced 16-year old being the best player on the park in a pre-season tournament fixture against Arsenal and it has only been bad luck with injuries that has stopped him from being one of the best players of his generation showing only flashes of what he is truly capable of.

Would you be happy signing Wilshere for 20-30 games a season?

Yes

No - waste of money

If he does sign for the Light Blues it would be some coup by Steven Gerrard, regardless of fitness issues, getting 20-30 games out of Wilshere would still be an outstanding option to have available in the squad, as long as he spends most of his time on the training pitch and not in the treatment room.
