For the last few years it always seemed that Alfredo Morelos was the only player Rangers had of any value and was always likely to be sold with every transfer window that opened, however, that isn’t the case anymore.

We have a host of players who are being courted by European clubs and at the top of that list is Ianis Hagi, he has the Golden Boy reputation, experience in Serie A, is a senior international for Romania and, of course, he has the family name to live up to.

The 22-year old isn’t unhappy or trying to force a move and yet on an almost weekly basis we are seeing clubs linked with a summer move, a rumoured £10million release clause another recent addition, news that has seen claims of the player’s agent leading the way in the speculation, something that former England keeper, Paul Robinson speaking to Football Insider – agrees with:

“Yeah probably.

“They all do it at this stage of the season. There’s work going on in the background, leaking stuff to papers.

“All of this just smells like the agent being busy. I’m sure that winds the manager up even though some managers might encourage it.

“Generally, there’s no smoke without fire. I’m not saying I would be surprised if he stayed but when you read stuff like that, the player probably won’t be there at the start of next season.”

Hagi has had a great, proper, debut season with 8 goals and 15 assists and yet you wouldn’t say he is one of the first names on the team sheet, he is definitely in the first 14 and Steven Gerrard’s go to man, depending on the opposition, but he could be replaced.

What has been noticeable though is that his last two games have seen him play in a deeper midfield role, out of necessity, where he has scored and created a goal, it may be that this is where his long-term future lies – if his agent lets him stick around long enough to find out.
