According to rumours, Rangers are set to hand a six month contract to ex West Ham and Millwall youngster Moses Ashikodi.

The youngster who has been freed by West Ham spent three months on loan to Gillingham this season but he wasn’t in West Ham’s long term plans and they freed him.

The young striker has a troubled past though and only two years ago pulled a knife on his team mate at Millwall, although he claims he was provoked and acted out of self defence.

Rangers boss Alex McLeish feels that he needs cover up front after letting loan stars Federico Nieto and Francis Jeffers go back to their clubs but is only willing to sign Ashikodi on a short term deal.

Nigerian born Ashikodi who is 18 years old is desperate to get his career back on track after the incident two years ago and being let go by West Ham. Before the incident he was tipped to have a bright future.
