Rangers will re-enter negotiations for Motherwell winger Jake Hastie this week, with the recruitment team at Ibrox changing their mind on trying to sign him on a pre-contract basis, according to The Express.

The paper say that the club pulled out of discussions earlier this month after the 20-year-old stalled on making a decision on his future.

However, we are still keen on his signature and there could be movement over the next few days with a fresh round of negotiations planned.

Rangers will be competing with a number of clubs for the youngsters services, according to the report, with Middlesbrough, Derby County, Hull City, Millwall and Portsmouth all interested, alongside MLS outfit Atlanta United.

Hastie has scored an impressive seven goals in 13 appearances for the Steelmen since bursting into the first-team in January, emerging as one of the most exciting young players in the Scottish Premiership.

Although The Express say the compensation fee for his ‘free’ transfer could be as much as £300,000, he has the kind of potential that could make him a regular in the first-team over the next few years.
