Rangers and new manager Steven Gerrard will find out our first opponents in this season’s Europa League qualifying round on Wednesday.

With plans well underway and the players abroad with Gerrard on a training camp as we undergo our pre-season warm-ups ahead of the qualifying matches, we do find ourselves seeded for the draw for the first qualifying round of 2018/19 owing to our third place Premiership finish in 2017/18.

First qualifying round ties are set to take place on July 12 and July 19, with second qualifying round ties set for July 26 and August 2.

Potential opponents at this stage feature a familiar name. This time last year Rangers went out of the competition to Progres Niederkorn and we could again meet them. Bosnia and Herzegovina side Siroki Brijeg, Macedonia’s Shkupi, Lithuanian side Stumbras or Slovakia’s Dunajska Streda are our other possible oppositions.

Should Rangers make it that far this season, the draw for the third qualifying round is set for July 23, with the Play-Off draw set for 6 August.

With hope and anticipation high following the appointment of the former Liverpool and England midfielder, the aim will certainly be to put ourselves through to the Group Stages of the tournament at the very least to give everyone a boost ahead of the coming league battles.
