Rangers to announce signing of 29-year-old attacker at end of the season

|

Attacker Greg Stewart has signed for Rangers and will be announced by the club at the end of the season, as reported by The Daily Record.

The paper say he has signed a three-year deal at Ibrox on a pre-contract basis and will join up with Steven Gerrard’s first-team squad upon the expiration of his current Birmingham City deal.

Given he is currently on loan at Aberdeen, who we play today, his immediate announcement is too hot to handle right now, according to the report.

Stewart had an excellent start to the 2018/19 season, starring on loan at Kilmarnock and scoring eight goals and assisting seven times.

Since switching to Aberdeen in January though he has struggled for form, netting just once and providing three assists.

Which version we get in the summer will be crucial the kind of impact he makes in Gerrard’s starting eleven.

In theory he could provide a key link between midfield and attack, thriving in the number ten role behind Alfredo Morelos or Jermain Defoe.

Hopefully surrounded by better players and with the motivation of playing for the Gers he can recapture his early season form and be a big hit at Ibrox.

There’s talent there, it’s just about utilising it in the best way.
