Danny Mills has suggested that Rangers have the edge over Leeds United in the summer transfer window when it comes to the arrival of Ryan Kent.
Speaking to Football Insider, the former defender and England international suggested that because Kent is a Liverpool player, the pull of working under Steven Gerrard again could be too great.
“I think Steven Gerrard has more sway than Marcelo Bielsa in this situation.
“Kent did well at Rangers last season, Gerrard rates him highly and knows him from Liverpool. There is likely to be a bit of hero worship of Gerrard from the player.”
Marcelo Bielsa is one of the great managers of the game and Leeds are probably set for a decent season in the Championship next year under him.
However, I think Mills might well be spot on.
If you’re connected to Liverpool in any way, surely working for Steven Gerrard is too big an opportunity to turn down.
And, yes, he might have experienced that last season but now he surely knows what he can get out of another stint at Ibrox.
Let’s hope Mills is right, then, and we get to see the winger in blue again next season.
