Rangers target £3.6m-rated Premier League star to follow up Davis and Defoe signings

Rangers are interested in signing Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald this January, according to football.london.

The 30-year-old Scotland international was crucial to the Cottagers’ promotion from the English Championship last season but has been in and out of the team this term, making just 10 English Premier League appearances to date.

Football.london say that has led to interest from Steven Gerrard and his recruitment team, with initial discussions already taking place about a potential move.

What kind of structure that deal would have remains to be seen, but he is not out of contract any time soon, tied to the club until next summer, with Fulham holding the option of another year beyond that.

Perhaps a loan move is the best scenario for all parties here, with McDonald too talented to be sitting on Fulham’s bench for much longer.

McDonald is rated at £3.6m by Transfermarkt, which would be a significant chunk of money for a player entering his thirties.

The former Dundee man has had an excellent career in England, making over 200 appearances in the Championship and Premier League, winning plaudits for his combative midfield style.

Is he worth moving for even though we have just signed Steven Davis?

It’s one to watch throughout January anyway.
