A statement has been issued by Clyde 1 this afternoon, with the radio station backing down following Rangers displeasure at comments made on the Superscoreboard show.

In recent weeks, one more than one occasion, remarks have been made on the station that the Rangers hierarchy were far from happy with but now the matter appears to have been resolved.

It is evidence of getting business done, efficiently and diligently, without every action being carried out in the public glare.

The statement read:

“Clyde 1 Superscoreboard wishes to address recent issues in our relationship with Rangers Football Club. We are committed, as always, to maintaining a healthy working relationship with Rangers FC, as well as every other club in Scottish football.”

“Rangers Football Club recently raised some concerns around some comments on our show. These points have been addressed in a constructive and positive manner and fully resolved.”

“We look forward working closely with the club for the rest of the season and beyond.”

“Our sports journalist Andrew MacLean will be attending the press conference this Wednesday ahead of Rangers European clash with Royal Antwerp on Thursday.”

Retraction

Regular Superscoreboard pundit Hugh Keevins put his foot in it with degrading remarks about Gers striker Alfredo Morelos.

He described the Colombian as a ‘nasty piece of work’ but a retraction soon followed leading to another comment of ‘a classy piece of work’.

Also, journalist Roger Hannah appeared on the show and got himself in a twist over his take on the incident with Kemar Roofe and Murray Davidson that led to a ban for the Rangers forward and an injury to the Saints veteran in another incident in the same game.

This incident was also cited by Rangers to the broadcaster in another move to protect Rangers interests in the sphere of Scottish football commentariat.

Whilst there have been other issues in the last week, on which a lot of fans have desired a quick, direct response, the evidence above demonstrates that broadcasters and the like will not be able to act with impunity toward the club.
