Sometimes it can be nice to have problems.

For example, we currently have the best two right-backs in the country whilst Celtic’s first choice is Anthony Ralston, remember him? Yes, the one that laughed at Neymar when he was getting beat 4-0.

We saw a glimpse of the future against Arsenal, Nathan Patterson and James Tavernier on the park at the same time and it’s something that former Gers full-back, Alan Hutton is excited to see, as reported by Football Insider:

“The one growing thing for me that Gerrard spoke about was the introduction of Patterson at right-back and Tavernier moving forward.

“I’m very interested to see how this develops. I think Patterson is in a space now where he needs to be playing.

“However, we understand Tavernier’s the captain, what he brings to the team.

“What he has done has been pivotal to what they do. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this develops.

“Tavernier for me, I think he’s better coming onto the ball and having everything in front of him. It’s very difficult to put a full-back up there with their back against players. Everything changes.

“So could there be a change in formation? Possibly.

“I think it will be interesting, it’ll be an interesting dynamic, I think, moving forward.”

Steven Gerrard has been surprisingly open in admitting that the two players are too good to have one sitting on the bench every week with the skipper more likely to move forward into midfield, the manager also suggested the there could even be a change of shape with teams now more aware of how we like to set up.
