Ryan Kent was clearly not quite himself at the beginning of the season and after a couple of hamstring issues and a couple of months out injured, it’s pretty clear what the problem was.

A player with his ability and attributes needs that five yard burst of pace that get’s him away from defenders, being able to change direction in an instant and create chaos in and around the box is what makes him so dangerous, he just didn’t have that before his hamstring finally gave way.

Against Brondby he looked sharper the moment he stepped onto the pitch, it wasn’t even close, he was clearly fitter and more confident in his body, there was no reluctance to put his foot down and hit top speed.

Steven Gerrard spoke after the 4-2 win over Ross County and praised the 24-year old’s impact and the moment of magic that sent Rangers on their way to three points, as reported by The Glasgow Times:

“He has come back in a top place. You see the difference he made from the bench in midweek and I thought he looked really dangerous and really sharp.

“I thought he has built on that again today, it was a strong 60 minutes and the goal is world class, without a shadow of a doubt.

“We just need now to top him up from a physical point of view to make sure that he is really flying going into the semi-final.”

I love Ianis Hagi, but he doesn’t have the same ability to take players out of the game with pace, when he and Kent are in the same line up together though it works so much better because defences don’t know where to look when we are attacking, they are both positive every time they get the ball but in their own unique ways.

Will Gerrard go to Aston Villa?

Yes

No

No

Hopefully, that is Kent fit now, it’s been good to get him a couple of games before the international break and the league cup semi-final on the other side, a friendly somewhere in between has been mentioned by the gaffer which should be enough to get him fully up to speed at his most dangerous and lightning fast best.
