Steven Gerrard has named his starting eleven for tonight’s crucial fixture at home to Villarreal in the UEFA Europa League.

Knowing that a win is vital to keep our chances of qualifying for the knockout stages alive, the manager has fielded a strong team to take on the La Liga side.

As announced by UEFA, tonight’s team is:

Starting XI – Allan McGregor, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Joe Worrall, Jon Flanagan, Ryan Jack, Lassana Coulibaly, Scott Arfield, Daniel Candeias, Glenn Middleton, Alfredo Morelos.

Substitutes – Wes Foderingham, Ovie Ejaria, Andy Halliday, Ross McCrorie, Eros Grezda, Gareth McAuley, Kyle Lafferty.

With Rapid Vienna beating Spartak Moscow 2-1 in the early kick-off, the Gers start the Group G match in fourth place despite a solid opening four games in the competition.

A win however will move us up to first place in the group heading into the final matchday, which will be played against the Austrians away from home in December.

All four teams still have a chance of qualifying which will likely motivate tonight’s visitors too, despite their dreadful start to the La Liga season where they hover just above the relegation zone.

They haven’t won a match away from home in any competition since September.

Can we pile on the misery at Ibrox tonight?
