PFA Scotland are set to launch a petition to pressure the SPFL to get rid of artificial pitches in the Scottish Premiership, with Rangers stars expected to sign up, as reported by The Daily Record.

The Gers have already been victim to plastic pitches so far this season, with Jamie Murphy suffering a season-ending injury at Rugby Park. Many onlookers attributed the surface as a contributing factor.

The paper say that players from every club in the top-flight outside of Kilmarnock, Hamilton and Livingston are expected to put their name to the campaign, with safety concerns coming to the fore as well as the general low quality of the pitches.

The SPFL have done nothing to respond to player feedback so far, instead allowing Livingston to add a third artificial pitch the division after their promotion.

Hopefully the league will see sense and move towards banning the surfaces. Players know best about what surfaces are ideal to play on and if they have genuine concerns about their fitness and injury proneness then something must be done.
