Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has taken to Twitter this afternoon to share his anger with the artificial pitch at Rugby Park.

Sitting out today’s Scottish League Cup clash against Kilmarnock, the veteran shot-stopper is clearly not impressed with the state of the artificial surface watching on, especially as it could have been a factor in the injury sustained to Jamie Murphy.

The Ibrox attacker had to be stretchered off in the first half with what looked to be a serious injury that could rule him out for a significant period of time.

Clearly McGregor is of the opinion that the pitch could have played a part, echoing the thoughts of Rangers managers in the past who have blasted the surface at Rugby Park.

In 2016, former boss Mark Warburton claimed that the surface was a contributing factor to an injury sustained by Martyn Waghorn.

Good on McGregor for bringing this issue into the headlines once again.

Is it time for sub-par artificial pitches to be banned in the Scottish Premiership? Let us know in the comments below…
