With Christmas Day only a few hours away, the January transfer window will soon be with us and Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is a very easy go-to for the media when it comes to the rumour mill and this New Year will be no different.

The 21-year-old talent has already hit 19 goals this season across all competitions for manager Steven Gerrard and he still has his knockers given his moments of inconsistency and when the red mist descends, but his importance to us shouldn’t be denied by anyone.

With plenty of speculation surrounding his future in the last few windows – Chinese links, as well as English Championship sides – our management staff, are singing from the same hymn sheet…he’s not going anywhere as he’s the one player we won’t put an inflated price on.

Sky Sports quote Gerrard as saying after the goals he hit against St Johnstone last weekend.

“He’s a top-class finisher. He must be a nightmare to play against because I see him constantly keep giving defenders tough afternoons. He comes alive in the box and at big times and big moments, he has stepped up for us. So we’re really pleased with him. All good players around the world receive interest and bids – that’s football. I won’t turn my phone off. I’ll listen to what interested clubs have to say. He’s going nowhere and that’s the message.”

Given the reported bids we’ve already rejected, given where we are in the Premiership table at this point of the year, it would truly take stupid money you would hope.
