Rangers star breaks silence on mystery surrounding Gerrard snub

Ross McCrorie in action for Rangers

Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie has insisted he has no problems with Steven Gerrard having been left out of the first-team of late, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Fans have been crying out for the inclusion of McCrorie in recent weeks, feeling the manager is missing something in the team by continuing to omit him from starting line-ups.

We aren’t lacking for midfield options but the former defender adds real defensive balance to the team and can certainly play a bit too.

The 21-year-old, who has made 24 appearances this season, believes it’s just something that young players have to deal with in football and has no problems with Gerrard’s decision making.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Scotland U21 international said:

Not getting a chance recently is part and parcel of football. I trust the Rangers manager and we’ll see what happens.

I feel as if I’m developing really well though. I feel I’m a far better player than I was last season and at the start of the season, especially with the run of games I played.

I feel like I’m ten times the player I was.

I’m also definitely a midfielder now! I feel  I’ve improved massively. I feel more natural in midfield and I’m a more rounded player. I’ve improved near enough every aspect of my game.

That’s partly because of playing and also because I’ve been putting the extra work in at training. I’ve been doing the wee extra bits with the coaches and in the gym. I’ve been brought up to always work hard. I’ll talk to the coaches but it’s mostly down to watching clips.

If you want to improve as a player it’s up to yourself.

In my opinion there is no doubt that McCrorie possesses the talent and commitment to be a mainstay in the Rangers team for years to come and I would love to see him start to get more games in the tail-end of the season.

For me, that even starts in the upcoming derby against Celtic, with the youngster producing an exceptional display to help beat them at Ibrox in December.

Gerrard should definitely put more faith in his ability and hopefully we start seeing more of the 21-year-old sooner rather than later.
