Alfredo Morelos has emerged as the main summer transfer target of Fenerbahce, according to Turkish outlet Takvim, translated by Sport Witness.

It’s no surprise that Morelos will be wanted by a whole host of big clubs this summer. His 29 goals so far this season and international breakthrough with Colombia have ensured that.

His stock is high and despite signing a new contract at the club recently, speculation will likely persist throughout the summer.

Sport Witness have translated a report from Turkish newspaper Takvim that claims the 22-year-old is now Fenerbahce’s main transfer target, with manager Ersun Yanal convinced he can play a big role in the European giants’ future.

The interest is said to be so advanced that Fenerbahace Sporting Director Damien Comolli, formerly of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, will soon open negotiations with decision makers at Ibrox for the players’ signature.

Losing Morelos would of course be a bitter blow to the first-team squad, but the fee he is likely to command should placate some supporters who fear losing his goal contribution.

A replacement would need to be sought of course, but hopefully however it all turns out this summer, Rangers benefit massively.
