It’s been an amusing week or so with articles from a variety of desperate sources trying to create a negativity around Ibrox that simply isn’t there.

Following on from Chris Sutton’s pathetic attempts to criticise Steven Gerrard’s handling of the “Covid 5” incident, The Daily Record and Keith Jackson – have decided that now would be the time to predict a “house of cards” collapse similar to that of Celtic’s should the gaffer head south to replace Jurgen Klopp, who is still Liverpool boss and “going nowhere” in his own words.

The story comes after the Liverpool boss was linked with a move to the German national team who, incidentally, also still have a manager who has made no hint that he is leaving anytime soon, so to say that it is quite a stretch to predict Rangers crumbling under the weight of having to replace Gerrard is something of an understatement.

The biggest difference between what is happening at Parkhead and any potential managerial change at Ibrox is Ross Wilson, we have a sporting director who has been here before and knows how to run a football club.

Will Gerrard go to Liverpool next?

Yes

No

His former club Southampton are famous for not rebuilding or giving in to the demands of every managerial appointment, it is the other way around, managers and coaches are scouted/assessed based on their ability to deliver what the club wants and, when the time comes for Gerrard to move on, we should be no different.

Wilson will already have a list of potential management teams who would suit our ethos, style of play and players already available for selection to make the transition as seamless as possible, we have seen in recent years – to great expense – what can happen when an experiment goes wrong.
