Rangers continue to be linked with a host of attacking players, and one such name that refuses to go away is Siriki Dembele of Peterborough United.

With just a year left on is contract at the recently promoted Championship side they are keen to sell him this summer so that they at least receive a fee for him, however, as yet, it has all gone quiet, as revealed by their director of football, Barry Fry via The Daily Record:

“It’s been quiet as far as bids are concerned.

“And it could be that Siriki starts the season with us. If he does he would best advised to play his heart out for Posh as the transfer window remains open until September 7 and that gives him a month to impress someone.”

Fry, much to the annoyance of Ross Wilson no doubt,  confirmed earlier in the season that we were actually keeping an eye on the forward, which proves there is at least some truth in the rumour:

“Rangers have watched Siriki twice, as have the Scottish national side. Newcastle manager Steve Bruce watched him at Crewe when he didn’t play well.

“There will always be interest in players like Siriki, but we don’t have to sell him.

“We have him for another 18 months and we’d rather he stayed until the summer when we can reassess his situation.”

He’s a good player and would count as homegrown gvien his eligibility and development in Scotland, whether or not we need him now that Fashion Sakala is on board is another story, unless there are any departures – watch this space.
