As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rangers are amongst the favourites to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer, with the 31-year-old set to leave the English champions on a permanent basis.

Hart has been on the fringes of the first team at City since Pep Guardiola took control of the club, spending the last two seasons out on loan at Italian side Torino and Premier League outfit West Ham United.

It now seems that his career at the Etihad is over with teams like Rangers, Celtic and Crystal Palace all amongst the leading pack for his signature.

From Rangers’ perspective though, his capture makes little sense considering they have already added Allan McGregor to Steven Gerrard’s first team squad at Ibrox.

With capable back-up in Jak Alnwick and Wes Foderingham too, there is little need for another goalkeeper unless both leave the club over the next six weeks.

Hart’s form hasn’t even been that great over the past couple of seasons and although he is obviously a big name and a former England number one, signing him up at this stage seems something of a risk until he proves he is a top level shot-stopper.

In our eyes, this is definitely one to avoid.
