Motherwell youngster David Turnbull has really caught the eye this season and Rangers should make a move to sign him this summer.

The 19-year-old midfield was one of the players nominated for PFA Scotland’s Young Player of the Year award at the weekend, missing out to stand-out Rangers winger Ryan Kent.

He’s since been described by Motherwell assistant manager Keith Lasley as the “best young talent this country has produced in a generation”, who was incredulous Kent beat him to the honour.

That may be taking things a bit far but it’s clear Turnbull is an incredible talent and has massive future potential.

He’s been in lethal form for the Steelmen of late, scoring four goals in his last three matches.

Those are part of a 13-goal total this season from midfield – excellent and consistent numbers for a player who is still a teenager.

Also contributing six assists, he’s been absolutely crucial to Motherwell for months now.

As noted by BBC Scotland, he’s scored nearly a third of their league goals this season.

Manager Steven Gerrard and Director of Football Mark Allen have made it a key transfer strategy to sign up the best talent available in the Scottish game and no-one is catching the eye more right now than Turnbull.

It remains unknown what kind of fee Motherwell would be looking for Turnbull, but his contract runs until 2021 meaning they hold the cards when it comes to his departure.

However, we may find if we wait too long on his market value to reduce that other clubs beat us to his signature and the evidence suggests he is a player we wouldn’t want to miss out on.
