Rangers Should Have Faith With Former Loanee

Jason Cummings’ time at Ibrox with Rangers largely petered out.

Having made the switch from Nottingham Forest on a half-season loan back in the January window, he never really got going at the club and soon found himself spending more time on the bench than he did on the pitch.

Nine starting appearances and a further nine showings from the bench did return seven goals though which isn’t too bad a return for the 22-year-old all things considered.

The spell certainly didn’t go as many hoped though given the earlier form that he’d shown at Hibernian where he became the first player in 50 years to score 20+ goals for three straight seasons.

Rangers did have a buy option on him following the loan for a reported £1million but that hasn’t been exercised, however, some reports suggest that new manager Steven Gerrard will give him a second chance and the club continue to work on striking a deal.

A number of fans think Gerrard should extend the olive branch though as they believe the former Liverpool and England midfielder can get the best out of him once more.

The responses were certainly mixed though as fans felt Rangers should be targeting a more rounded player that can offer more immediately to us, but if he can get back to his Hibernian form and we use him to his strengths, surely he’d be an advantage given his talent in front of goal.
