Rangers has secured a new name for the back of the shirts, which sees Socomec as the latest sponsor to be unveiled.

Unfortunately on this occasion, it is not a new arrival for Giovanni van Bronckorst’s squad but the news does appear to provide a welcome replacement now that former ‘back of shirt’ partner ‘Sportemongo’ is no longer trading.

Supporters who have purchased new shirts with the now-defunct NFT branding included can now have the new sponsor logo added at no cost, as outlined by the club statement which included:

“Rangers Football Club are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with the global electrical equipment, engineering and manufacturing group, Socomec.”

“Through the partnership, Socomec will have their branding featured as the Men’s first team back of shirt sponsor for the upcoming 2022/23 season.”

Founded in France in 1922, the firm is an electrical equipment, engineering and manufacturing company, specialising in low voltage energy performance. They are not a household brand which most will previously have been aware of but do have an operation in the UK as part of 28 subsidiaries throughout the world.

This update merely marks another item on the to-do list for the commercial team headed by James Bisgrove as well as providing the latest reminder of the ills of ‘modern football’ but the real action from a fans point of view is of course, on the pitch, with Tuesday bringing further speculation on potential new signings at Ibrox in the form of Antonio Colak and Ivan Lepinjica.

As we head later into the week and closer to the start of pre-season on Monday, further transfer activity is likely and to be expected over the coming days and weeks as Rangers gear up for 22/23.
