The ongoing battle between Mike Ashley and Rangers isn’t showing too much signs of coming to an end.

Actually, that being said, moves to bring an end to this are ‘arrangement’ are being made!

But the likelihood is if this is to happen it could, if not would, involved another court battle that wouldn’t be cheap yet this hasn’t stopped the club from making it clear we wish to end the Rangers Retail Ltd (RRL) co-run with Ashley’s Sports Direct.

Termination of RRL is something Rangers have started the process of undertaking, Rangers have served notice to Newcastle owner Ashley to basically ‘tear up’ the merchandising agreement!

Sky Sports reports Press Association Sport as saying the Gers are ‘confident they have grounds to tear up their RRL agreements’ in the hopes of wrestling intellectual property back to the club see a greater share of the profits come to Rangers and not Ashley.

Newcastle’s relegation could help as Championship rules on dual club ownership are much tighter than those Premier League clubs abide by.

These Sky Sports reports also went on to say we earn ‘just four pence from every pound spent in the club shop’ with this, as we know, resulting in supporters refusing to buy official merchandise from the club therefore losing us money.

An official statement was put out on rangers.co.uk, which read.

‘The Rangers Football Club Limited has today served notice on Rangers Retail Limited terminating the IP Licence and Rights Agreement with that company with immediate effect.

‘The Club now needs to speak to its commercial partners to agree the next steps flowing from the termination and will make no further comment on this matter whilst discussions are ongoing.

‘The Club will endeavour to communicate further with its supporters and customers for Rangers Kit and other Rangers products as soon as it is in a position to do so.’

Previous attempts by chairman Dave King have failed, will this succeed though….
