Rangers are rumoured to be interested in Sporting Lisbon winger Mama Balde ahead of the summer transfer window.

Club insider blog Four Lads Had A Dream, who are often a trusted source of information for supporters, say that Ibrox scouts have looked at him on several occasions over the last few months.

With a current market value of £1.8m according to Transfermarkt, Balde has spent the season on loan at Portuguese top-flight side Aves and has had a fairly impressive campaign, scoring 10 goals and assisting 3 times in all competitions for the mid-table outfit.

He has the versatility to play up and down the right flank from defence to attack and could be a real asset to the squad next season.

Still just 23 years of age, he’s also a potential long-term replacement for Daniel Candeias.

The Pedro Caixinha signing is now 31-years-old and his contract is due to expire at the end of next season.

Balde’s contract at Sporting doesn’t expire until 2022, so whether we would be pursuing his signing on a loan or a permanent basis remains to be seen, if Four Lads Had A Dream are in fact accurate about our interest.

  • I agree with Ian Cameron andBilly b we badly need somebody to give big Katic some help, keeping Wallace would be a big help also for me personally I would get rid of Travernier as a defender he is rank bad and Colston does not fill me with confidence, there is a player at Everton who is available on a free at end of the season Jagianelka who would be good for the Gers.
