Rangers fought off pretty stiff competition to sign Fashion Sakala with clubs in the Premier League, La Liga and Ligue 1 all said to have made the Zambian international and offer for his services.

We did though have a helping hand in getting the deal over the line from an unlikely source, then Celtic defender, Jack Hendry, who spent last season on loan at Oostende with Sakala.

Now at Bruges after an outstanding season in the Juniper Pro League, Hendry, has been speaking about his expectations for his former team-mate:

“Rangers are a massive football club and from what I have heard the coaching staff there are excellent.

“It will be brilliant for Fashion to go and work with a coaching staff of that calibre.

“Fashion has got a bit of his game to work on but Rangers look to be a good place to go and do that.

We’ve only seen glimpses of the 24-year old striker so far due to a niggling groin injury which Steven Gerrard has held his hands up for, a result of pushing Sakala too quickly, too soon, to try to get him fit to lead the line in the Champions League qualifiers with Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos both missing for the first leg.

Who scored the winner in Sunday's first Old Firm of 2021/22?

He returned the squad just before the break though so another couple of weeks training should see him ready to make the impact that his debut against Real Madrid suggested that he was capable of and one that Hendry has tipped him for.
