Ryan Kent has been far from is best so far this season, and yet, remains a hugely important part of Steven Gerrard’s team.

He’s had more destructive Old Firm performances but was still a constant menace when we were in possession, given a free role behind Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos which makes the news that came out of Ibrox after the game all the more incredible.

The Heart and Hand podcast is an official media partner now, former contributor David Graham is Rangers head of media and communications, so when they make a statement, it carries a bit of gravitas.

They have revealed that Kent was, earlier in the week, ruled out until after the international break but he played through the pain barrier to help get his team over the line.

He was unlucky with a couple of efforts from just outside the, one hitting the post and another drawing a save from Joe Hart, again there were signs that they are terrified of him, Anthony Ralston lucky on a couple of occasions to get away with heavy challenges.

Who scored Rangers first ever goal under Steven Gerrard in EL qualification?

The break has come at a good time for Rangers with a few players clearly needing some time off and a chance to reset, Kent isn’t the only player who has looked below his best in recent weeks.

Hopefully he emerges on the other side fit and raring to go, an on form Kent remains our most potent attacking weapon and it will have been as frustrating for him as it has been for us that he is yet to open his goal scoring account this season – he didn’t quite tear them apart but his determination to contribute should be appreciated as if he did, his commitment to the cause unquestionable.
