Rangers’ rumoured interest in £4.5m-rated defensive prospect is very exciting

Rangers are rumoured to be targeting Axel Tuanzebe ahead of the summer transfer window.

Club insider blog Four Lads Had A Dream, who are a trusted source for thousands of fans, say that the Gers have scouted the 21-year-old on multiple occasions and are said to be ‘extremely interested’ in his services.

The £4.5m-rated Manchester United centre half is currently on loan at Aston Villa, helping them in their quest to gain promotion to the English Premier League through the play-offs.

He’s played 26 times this season but has been an impressive regular for the Villans when fit, having missed a portion of the season due to a foot injury.

His contract at Old Trafford expires next summer meaning this is a critical transfer window for the player when it comes to his long-term future.

Having made just 8 appearances for United his chances of making a first-team impact there are slim but it’ll be interesting to see how they handle a potential summer departure.

If he’s given a new contract then the chances are he will head back out on loan and we could be at the front of the queue.

The England U21 international is an exciting prospect and would surely be a regular starter for us if he does move to Glasgow, replacing Joe Worrall who is heading back to parent club Nottingham Forest.

One to watch over the coming weeks and months.
