Rangers rocked by potential Celtic derby problem

|

Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield is an injury doubt for the upcoming match away to Neil Lennon’s Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The Canadian international has pulled out of their crucial upcoming Concacaf Nations League qualifier at home to French Guiana in Vancouver and now faces a fitness battle to be ready for the Celtic Park fixture, say the paper.

Arfield was missing from Saturday’s draw against Kilmarnock with a calf problem and clearly it’s an issue that requires lengthy recovery given this latest withdrawal.

With seven goals and seven assists this season he has been a key attacking threat in the central area, even if fans aren’t fully convinced he is a viable creative link between defence and attack we desperately need.

Nonetheless he has proven to be an important player in Steven Gerrard’s squad and the Rangers boss will want to include him in the Old Firm clash.

Ideally his international call off is simply a precaution and his time off will allow him to recuperate before March 31st.

If we’re to pick up a vital victory over the Hoops we will need all our best players available.
