Rangers ready to do deal for experienced international this summer

|

Rangers are ‘confident’ of agreeing a permanent deal for Steven Davis, according to website Football Insider, citing Ibrox sources.

The outlet reports that despite mixed form during his current loan spell from Southampton, decision makers at the club are keen on tabling a deal for the experienced international that will run for at least another season.

The 34-year-old is not just a benefit to the first-team in a playing sense, but also exudes the qualities we’d expect from Rangers players, helping young stars and new signings reach the standards we require to challenge for trophies.

Davis has made 14 appearances since returning to the club in the January transfer window and although he initially struggled to show the kind of midfield performances fans expect from him, his last two starts have resulted in excellent displays.

He’d be an excellent option on a free transfer this summer, with his current deal at Southampton set to expire shortly.

We need his kind of winning mentality, personality and experience in the dressing room if we are to compete for major honours next season.
