Rangers squad is in a pretty good shape just now, the summer signings are starting to settle in and, hopefully, long-term absentees should be returning some time after the international break in the not too distant future.

There are a few contracts that need to be sorted in the next six months but in terms of filling holes in the squad, there isn’t much remedial work that needs to be done.

The players we have been linked with recently all fit into the category of possible replacements but one area where we’ve not really seen any rumours is in the forward line, however, with Cedric Itten unlikely to be around next season and Jermain Defoe featuring even less, the common sense approach would be to identify options before they get snapped up by someone else.

Unless we make money from the sale of someone like Alfredo Morelos, the most likely approach will be utilising the Bosman market and one player who fits our player trading model is French youth cap Randal Kolo Muani.

Currently at Nantes in Ligue 1, the 22-year old played for France at the Olympics and has played for their Under-21 side with his contract set to expire next summer making him an attractive proposition – as does his current valuation of £8.1million.

He has two goals and two assists in his eight appearances so far which match his Nantes record of a goal contribution, roughly, one every two games, a decent return in a difficult league.

Which Rangers keeper last made an international appearance for Scotland?

At 6ft 2inches tall he also has a physical presence which would come in handy in the Scottish Premiership, fast with the ball at his feet, he is also a hard worker when it comes to pressing, that he has already been targeted by Southampton and Watford this summer suggests that he won’t have a shortage of suitors when he is able to speak to clubs in January.

He’s a promising player who could turn out to be very valuable, we also have a decent track record of signing strikers from Nantes, if I remember rightly, the last one did alright for himself…..
