The Rangers team to face Queen of the South in tonight’s League Cup Round 2 clash has been confirmed.

As expected, Giovanni van Bronckhorst rings the changes following his words on Saturday that rotation would happen. Key men are rested after the exertions against PSV and Ross County over the last week, with the massive first Old Firm derby of the season taking place on Saturday at Parkhead.

The squad has been fully utilised with a full complement of 11 changes from the last game and of particular interest is the inclusion from the start of Leon King, Adam Devine, Robbie Ure and an eagerly awaited return for Ridvan Yilmaz.

Another notable starter is Fashion Sakala but questions will still be asked of his future ahead of the transfer deadline tomorrow night. Is this the last shop window appearance or overdue minutes on the pitch as third choice striker?

There are positive talking points all over the pitch in terms of those given the nod to start tonight’s game as well as the formation.

Steven Davis in central defence perhaps? It’s an exciting, attack minded line-up and a chance that should be taken against lower league opposition whilst there is still plenty of quality in the team to progress to the next round.

Teenage striker Robbie Ure has been given the nod to lead the line and chances will come his way. It can be a glory night for the 18-year old to remember, just like the Scottish Cup debut for Alex Lowry back in January when he scored in the 4-0 victory.

It is a shame that Lowry isn’t able to take part tonight but the recent crude and reckless challenge from Dumbarton’s Ally Love is responsible for that.

Kick-off at Ibrox is at 7.45pm
