Rangers released a brief update this morning to state that it has received communication from the Scottish Government regarding proposals for vaccine passports for entry to Ibrox.

Further information will follow from Ibrox, very soon, as detailed below.

There is an element of apprehension amongst the Rangers support as to what exactly the ScotGov plans will entail.

What we do know at present, is that from 1st October, new guidelines will be in place.

For events with a capacity over 10,000, a ‘vaccine passport’ will be required.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster has already expressed concern and doubt as to how these proposals would work in reality and the clubs have made soundings that they are not in favour.

Expecting to check every fan to enter stadiums such as Ibrox appears to be wishful thinking, so it may come down to spot checks.

Another big issue for Rangers is that a significant element of season ticket holders and regular match going fans, travel from outside Scotland.

Early soundings suggested that those who have been vaccinated outside of Scotland would not be eligible, but that is discriminatory and illogical, for several reasons.

Many supporters will be eagerly waiting on the update to follow and what happens next, in regard to games at Ibrox for the forseeable future, starting this coming Sunday against Hibs.
